Growing up we went food shopping every day pretty much. The reasons why wouldn’t change in this circumstance. Let me explain why we had to get groceries daily and why people need to stop judging others. https://twitter.com/sabina_brennan/status/1248761376958550017
It was just the two of us, my mom and me. My mom got paid in cash daily as a cleaner, which meant she couldn’t do a “big shop” - we had to buy as we had the money to do so. Everyone in our circle did this. It was exhausting. Being poor is exhausting.
We lived in a shitty rented place with a under-the counter fridge and no freezer, not even a ice tray. We couldn’t freeze things, so even if my mom wanted to cook in bulk she couldn’t. Which meant a lot of bulk buying discounts were unavailable to us. Being poor is expensive.
We didn’t have a car, obviously. So everything we bought had to be carried back home, limiting the amount we could get. Which meant we used smaller more expensive shops more. Again, being poor is expensive.
My moms ability to plan ahead in terms of food was hindered by whether her cleaning clients would randomly cancel of her, if bills came in, if a neighbour could lend a fiver, as my mom lent fivers too. If COVID happened then none of this would change she would still shop daily
Anyway try to assume the best intentions from everyone, it’ll save you a lot of headaches.
