ETHICS 101: A journalist should not reveal the identities of his or her sources of information. Maintaining trust with sources and protecting them from any backlash are primary concerns in pursuing a story. Mr. Clavio is a journalist, right?
REJOINDER: This principle applies to sources who request anonymity. We should also remember that it is NOT a journalist's duty to coordinate with any government agency as regards the latter's investigation.
REJOINDER 2: Take note that I used the word "identities," not names, of sources. Disclosing the hospital to the DOH makes it possible to trace Mr. Clavio's sources. This is what makes the action unethical. Why cooperate with government when media should report to the public?
