After my surgery in 2008, I spent a lot of time in the hospital recovering. It was a learning period for me, for my family as people around us showed their true colors.

We were #BetrayedButBetter. First off, my father needed money to pay off my bills or I would not be released
It was at that moment I swore I was never going to be poor. Imagine staying in a hospital for weeks after just because you had bills that had not been paid yet.

My father sold cars at that moment and one particular guy took one from him and absconded knowing well the situation
People will show their true colors at your lowest, never forget that.

Forget the promises they make, how exactly do they step up in desperate times, the ones that do are your real friends!

Just make sure that you come out #BetrayedButBetter
Everyone will be betrayed, whether you like it or not, by people you trust. You might have betrayed someone too in the past. We should all do better

The funny one was I had to come back to Lagos looking like so thin. People on my street said I went to school to carry AIDS
My mom cried, but in the midst of all this I learnt lessons.

People will betray you, you can't escape it. What is more important is that you come out #BetrayedButBetter

Have you being betrayed before? Share your story, you might heal

Use #BetrayedButBetter so others can learn
