What to do with the current semester?

[THREAD]

Why should we end the semester now and pass/promote all students?

The deciding factor for me is the principle that education is and always should be a right and that it should be afforded to all.
The most practical thing to do is to end the semester, pass the students, and make the necessary adjustments needed to ensure that learning objectives will be met once classes resume or once we find out what the "new normal" is.
Administrators down to the department and insti levels must work hand in hand with professors and students to ensure that the learning gap is bridged, that learning objectives are met without compromising the welfare of students, that necessary curriculum changes be implemented,
and board examinations must be postponed, special considerations must be given to graduating students doing their thesis or practicum.
We cannot just resume or extend the semester given all the uncertainty, we cannot just reset it for that would be a waste of resources, time, and effort and not every student can simply put to waste almost half a semester's worth of work efforts, and resources.
To pass all does not mean that we do away with standards or learning, but it means that we understand the unprecedented situation that we are in, that we have a ❤ to understand that at this critical juncture the main concern should be how are we coping with this pandemic.
No one was prepared for any of these things to happen but right now we must remember that whatever happens to this semester its not just about us as individual students rather we must take into consideration the students who are badly hit,
the students who do not have the resources to simply go back , the students who now also have the burden to think of how would their families live from day to day.

No student should be denied access to education, no student should be left behind.
