Oof I just realized if KL get married, that means Keith suddenly (officially) has nieces and nephews.

He wouldn’t be sure what to do with little ones running around begging for attention from tio Lance and tio Keith, but they look /just/ like Lance and they have the same

pretty eyes and smiles that he can never say no to on Lance as it is.

Lance was always their favorite, but now it’s tio Keith because he makes even Lance seem like the bad cop.
They give him the puppy dog eyes and Keith is /WEAK/ facing it. He spoils his new nieces and nephews

completely rotten because even though he knows they’re not like him when he was little—they have people who care for them, who throw them birthday parties and tuck them in at night and ease their bad dreams—Keith never had that and now that he’s an adult?

He’s gonna make damn sure these kids, and his future kids have everything in the universe they could
/ever/ want for.

Lance can pretend to be put out by it but nothing melts him faster than his war hero husband having a Very Serious tea party with the kids, spinning tales of

space pirates and princesses that only Lance knows are generously embellished and edited for little ears.

And in turn, charmingly, Keith always listens when they talk, even when the stories are made up or wildly silly or even when they venture further into Spanish than he

can follow. He lets them braid his hair and hold his hands; He keeps full eye contact and looks at them so softly that Lance can’t help but throw a smile Keith’s way when Keith looks up and meets Lance’s gaze with hearts in his eyes, smile lingering more than not.

He watches Lance watching them, eyes molten and warm, easy and calm like they never truly got to be during the war.

He watches Lance absently spinning his wedding ring around his slender finger like he does when he’s lost in thought

and Keith can’t help but think of how he can’t wait to be a dad with Lance, and he knows from the look on Lance’s face that he’s thinking the same thing.

And maybe neither of them knows that the other has been saving pamphlets on fostering and adoption, but Lance has some nursery designs in mind already and Keith has an old stuffed hippo that’s been through almost as many battles as Keith, that he would love to pass down to

a little someone who they would raise to pick up Keith’s absent mannerisms, his wild spirit and Lance’s easy laughter and generous smiles; who they would teach to be brave and loyal and to know absolute and unconditional love~

Lance watches Keith let out an oof as a space wolf and two kids dogpile on top of his husband and thinks,
~I can’t wait
