Today I will put on a little thread about Daimler Ferret Scout Cars. Around 4500 vehicles were produced between 1952 and 1971

They were also exported to over 40 different countries including France. A Great British Success Story 🇬🇧

The Ferret (originally called fieldmouse) was originally designed shortly after the war based on the lessons learnt with the hugely successful WW2 Daimler Dingo (BSA designed) Scout car of which 6600 were made.

The bill for the initial design work, jigs, prototypes vehicles etc which was carried out by the Daimler Company and went on for nearly 4 years was ÂŁ112,820, final payment was made by the Ministry of Supply in 1953
At the heart of the Ferret is it's Rolls Royce B60 6 cylinder 4256cc 130hp Engine. The B60 was one of a series of 'B' Engines developed to try and introduce commonality across British Army Vehicles.

The Ferret was produced In 5 Marks, with 14 variants each including a number of sub variants. From liason, Scout through to vigilant and later Swingfire missile armed versions
Over 3000 Ferrets served with the British Army during the Cold War Years, in many theatres of operation 🇬🇧
