saw someone mention death stranding and imagine aizawa as a handler or whatever they’re called (it’s been a while) and always gets orders for medicine to yagi’s place. and aizawa is so isolated and lonely and comes off as gruff but loves the brief moments of seeing yagi
even if it’s through a hologram. he goes out of his way to return lost items and deliver to him. yagi always apologizes for all the BTs nearby and the trouble but aizawa knows the medicine he delivers is essential.
they discuss the books theyve read. aizawa shares the music he’s found. tells stories that leave yagi breathless. it’s friendly. amicable. but things are gated - distant. they have to be in this line of business.
then, on one delivery, aizawa gets hurt. the BTs are bad and he’s caught. he’s lucky to get out alive and is near yagi’s. so the man ushers him in - violating all boundaries. he helps provide medical care that saves aizawa’s life. but he’s out of commission for a while.
they grow closer tho; yagi spending as much time as possible nearby. he catches up on reading and shares his books with aizawa. yagi shows the plants he’s grown. when aizawa finally grows strong enough to leave, he’s shaken by how much he’s feeling.
then he finds a ripped out page of a book they both read: sharing the sentiments of love and distance and time. aizawa rushes back the first delivery he gets. they reunite and this time: they’re open and clear. yagi is patient and understanding of how walked off aizawa is.
but they establish a connection.
(yagi feels that connection snap when aizawa finally - finally - doesn’t return one delivery.)
