Because my brain is broken I've been thinking about how our current cultural pantheon of superheroes is fundamentally ill-equipped to deal with the current disaster
A pandemic is an enemy that cannot be punched into submission and cannot be defeated by preserving the status quo. A superhero is fundamentally the wrong archetype to respond to this sort of thing.
This isn't really a new observation - "super person punch criminals until society return to status quo/no such thing as a progessive superhero" is a longstanding (and valid) criticism of the form. But man, if ever there was not a time for individualist heroes...
And what I'm fixating on is what the ideal hero here does look like, because it's *systems*, not individuals that will save us. And I really don't have anything to point to.
