The US was very slow to do coronavirus testing but has now done so much (and found so many) that US states account for half the top countries/US states in terms of confirmed cases. Only one Chinese province makes it. #California was the first to #lockdown so is not shown
Deaths per capita - is supporting the view that the US may see over 50k #coronavirus deaths by 20 April and about 66k by 1 May. The #UK has a big range of possibilities - the worst case scenario is that it is NY a week ago, which means deaths would more than double in a week
The #UK is now recording more #coronavirus deaths per capita than Italy did 15 days before (they went into lockdown 14 days apart) but still today could be the worst day for peak deaths at around 1k. Weekend reporting might distort this - and NY scenario above would change this
#Belgium warrants a graph of its own, given its #coronavirus deaths are above Germany. Van Gucht says Belgium includes those dying in care homes; most don't.
So it is not just testing data that is hard to compare globally, but death data too

In terms of active cases, the fall over 1 week in Austria and Switz. is getting impressive. #Sweden now above Germany and Austria. Panama above Ecuador (see BCG maps) and both higher than cold countries like Canada and Finland. Qatar, #Turkey, UAE, are EMs with high growth
Among countries with 3-20 active coronavirus cases per 100k, #Peru has seen the biggest weekly rise followed by Kuwait. #Russia and #Brazil (on 9) have three times the cases of #SA
8 countries have fewer cases than a week ago
Countries with less than 2.5 active #coronavirus cases per 100k are a very mixed bunch, from #Mexico where active cases trebled in a week to #Vietnam where they fell. #Thailand, #Pakistan, #Egypt, #Nigeria, #China and #Ethiopia are all in this chart
