I can't sleep and I guess the savior here is going to be that most people are asleep but...Jesus fuck, I can't remember the last time I was proud to be an American.

Maybe it was the day Obama was elected. Maybe? I remember pride then. A swelling wave of hope that we had changed.

But since then? Nope. American exceptionalism is the single biggest threat to the world stage. Children are raised believing we are the country with the most freedoms and how LUCKY we are to be American. But it's all bullshit.

My Canadian friends applied for government support Monday. They already got their first of FOUR $2000 installments. Meanwhile, the richest country in the world is handing us $1200 one time at some point hopefully and then wondering why people are standing in bread lines.

I would love to be FREE from the fear of poverty from a medical emergency. Medicare for all...universal healthcare...whatever the fuck you want to call it...it's not socialism, it's getting on board with every other developed country in the world. We're DECADES behind

America is one of the most dangerous countries in the world for women, especially WOC. We have some of the highest maternal death rates in the world. Meanwhile, we hand guns to sociopathic assholes who are pissed they got dumped and then go kill a whole family.

And then there's THIS. I am seeing people on FB and Twitter be positively giddy over the fact that ONLY 60k Americans are pledged to die. What the fuck kind of country is this? How selfish are we? Every year we swear to never forget 9/11 but 60k people dying is good?

People want Fauci fired because he's all doom and gloom? Motherfuckers, can you imagine 60k Americans dead from ONE cause of death in the span of a few months? I'm having trouble imagining the 20k we're nearly at in a month.

Some doom and gloom is the right way to go. It's literally the only way to get people who think their right to live the way they want is higher than the rights of millions of their fellow Americans. My downstairs neighbors are still having parties ffs. Americans don't care

If you think the preventable deaths of 60k Americans is something to celebrate, get the fuck out of here. This government royally fucked up the response and the America we are today are too cowardly to fucking do something about it.

It's all about owning the libs or pissing off the MAGATs or whatever. NEARLY TWENTY THOUSAND AMERICANS ARE DEAD. What are we going to do about it? When are we actually going to start acting like a great country instead of a shithole where Americans go into debt

And can't feed their kids? I just...I'm so tired of people talking about how proud they are when I don't see a reason to be proud. Not when Americans are being buried in mass graves and I see people on FB celebrating that things aren't as bad as the experts originally thought.

I am just so tired. So tired of being scared. So tired of the anxiety. So tired of watching Americans worry only about themselves. I'm just exhausted.
