Okay so Rosalie's main characterization other than being really beautiful is that she never wanted to be a vampire. Her conflict with bella is about this. Bella wants to be a vampire just for the dick while rosalie thinks shes being dumb
Much like edward and carlise shes quite tortured about being a vampire not because she thinks shes damned like carlise or Edward but because it means she cannot have a family. And that's all rosalie has ever wanted. When she was human she only wanted to be a good wife and mother
However her abusive fiance gang raped her & left her for dead. She was lying in the streets bleeding out when carlise found her & he decided to change her specifically so she could be a mate to edward. He looked at this traumatized woman & was like yes perfect partner for eddie
Didnt ask Edward and he sure as hell didnt ask rosalie. He just fucking assumed. Carlise is framed as benevolent for changing Edward since he was dying of spanish flu but carlise really used that as an excuse cause he was lonely
He changed esme from her suicide attempt because he wanted a wife. She committed suicide after loosing her child and suffering an abusive marriage
In both the cases of esme and rosalie he took the choices away from these vulnerable women for his own purposes. While with edward he got to play savior while below the surface he wanted conpansionship.
rosalie is never really provided with support to overcome this trauma. Even in her afterlife she is expected to bow to expectations of what men want from her
She loved being human cause it meant the ability to really grown and change in and through love where as immortality has her frozen the way she was when she was initially traumatized.
Meanwhile she is framed as an egotistical brat by edward so emmet is changed out of Carlisle's guilt for trying to force them together in the first place. she pushes back against edward who is basically the spoiled favorite child with way too much control in the family
Which is what I respect about her plus shes the only one who believes that all bella needed to do was go to college and therapy to get a personality.
