hi all. in honor of sexual assault awareness month, i’d like to share my story. when i was around nine years old, i had travelled to South America to visit my fathers family. i was at one of my uncle’s houses, when (1)

my cousin, only a few years older than me, brought me to his room and got on top of me. he tried to touch me and kept kissing me. i told him to stop and he laughed. (2)

it was only because another family member came in the room i didn’t have to experience what so many girls and women face everyday. i have NEVER told anybody this. i am 14 years old now, and have carried that struggle with me since then. (3)

i don’t want anyone else to feel like they have to stay quiet. nobody deserves to be sexually assaulted, and my hope in telling you my story is that, if you have one, you share yours. my dms are always open. your feelings are valid. (end of thread)
