As of today, 57.7 per cent of significant clusters are identified as originating from "overseas exposure". https://www.health.govt.nz/our-work/diseases-and-conditions/covid-19-novel-coronavirus/covid-19-current-situation/covid-19-current-cases/covid-19-clusters">https://www.health.govt.nz/our-work/...
More generally, "contact with a known case" has only latterly surpassed "recent overseas travel" as the primary source of transmission. https://www.health.govt.nz/our-work/diseases-and-conditions/covid-19-novel-coronavirus/covid-19-current-situation/covid-19-current-cases">https://www.health.govt.nz/our-work/...
In short: the pandemic in New Zealand is related to & #39;overseas travel& #39;. This is a wealth-dependent activity. Low-income people go overseas, but not with the frequency of those on high-incomes. Few with low socioeconomic status would have travelled further than Australia.
The pandemic affects everyone, whether they are safe inside a bubble or not. Given that effect, it is reasonable to expect investigation and curtailment of those behaviours which contributed to its initiation. That such may produce positive climate outcomes would only be a bonus.
Sorry to this thread - I& #39;m prepping an Easter egg hunt for tomorrow. Be back.
