I’m a doctor in the emergency room seeing #covid19 patients.

It’s definitely not. https://twitter.com/TomiLahren/status/1248666012632915968
There is so much left to be done before we are even close to re-opening our country.

We need to set up testing infrastructure that can allow for community disease surveillance. This will help us figure out transmission hotspots + target our contact tracing/isolation efforts.
We have to make sure we have hospital beds, ICU capacity, & ventilators available so that we don't have to make the unimaginable choice as doctors over who gets a limited resource. I've seen this have to happen in low-resource settings overseas. I hope no one has to experience it
We have to make sure we have adequate protective equipment for our healthcare workers everywhere in the country.

You've seen the posts-- doctors, nurses & others re-using masks multiple days in a row; some not having N95s in aerosolizing situations. They're still showing up.
The biggest issue is this: some people don't understand that efforts at #socialdistancing are actually working to slow #covid19 transmission.

They are mistaking public health success for "over-reaction"

Do not make that error. #StayHome so that we can safely treat our patients
As someone working on both state/population level response & seeing #covid19 patients in the hospital, I know how critical it is that every single person play their part.

As doctors, we will keep showing up for you; please keep staying home for us! https://twitter.com/AbraarKaran/status/1246981251283783680?s=20
When I originally wrote this tweet, it was 12:36 am.

I was near the end of my shift in the ED. I saw how much love & dedication every frontline worker gave to treating those in need.

This isn’t about politics for me- this is about protecting our patients.
See thread below about what it has been like being a doctor on service during #covid19 & remembering what a privilege it is to care for our patients ⬇️ https://twitter.com/abraarkaran/status/1246981251283783680
