Long Thread Alert!

Does it bother anyone else that people in our government are telling us that it is wise to refrain from shaking hands to avoid getting a virus, but believe that it is foolish to teach abstinence from sex to avoid sin, disease, & pregnancy outside of marriage?
Does it frustrate anyone else that the government doesn’t trust us to be responsible enough to leave our homes without their permission, but wants us to trust them to run our lives?
Does it concern anyone else that many in the government who champion being “pro-choice” are actively attempting to eliminate almost every choice in your life? They want to choose what purchases, which medical decisions, & what travel is “essential” for you.
Does it alarm anyone else that drive-in church services are considered a public health hazard and are being stopped, but drive-in liquor stores and restaurants, where people actually pass things hand-to-hand that will then go hand-to-mouth, are free to continue unhindered?
Does it anger anyone else that abortion providers are still open as essential businesses in most states while churches are closed?
Does it seem ironic to anyone else that many of the people who would have been your harshest critics if you wanted to remove your child to homeschool them because YOU felt the public schools were unsafe have now forced you to homeschool because THEY feel the schools are unsafe?
I could go on, but I won’t. Please understand, I am for health and safety, but I am also for freedom and responsibility. They need not be contradictory.
We do not need more government restrictions; we need more personal responsibility, and therein lies much of the problem. If we do not need or want a nanny state, then we must not behave like children.
We cannot expect the government to feed us, clothe us, pay our medical bills, & raise our children, & then cry foul when they want to dictate every detail of our lives. Freedom requires self-governance, so with the incredible privilege of liberty comes individual responsibility.
Based on the definitions of freedom, if we are no longer given the power, right, or opportunity to choose, then we are not free. If we are under the coercion, control, or restraint of another, we are not free.
So, a few final questions: how much freedom are we willing to cede, to whom, for how long, and for what purpose?
Are you willing to relinquish your freedom to possibly preserve your health? What if that relinquishment means losing everything else you have? What if the health we hope to preserve today is at the expense of our children’s freedom in the future?
I just have some questions.
