as a newcomer: I’m a few chapters in and the writing is unbearably cringe, the combat is undoubtably interesting but can feel repetitive after a while, everything looks beautiful but that doesn’t make the game better just v pretty. A thread...
If this isn’t your genre the combat can feel overwhelming. But if you take the time to read the menus and avoid button mashing other than to fill your ATB, you’ll start to get in the flow and it can be enjoyable but at the same time it’s a lot of menu selection & camera spins.
I don’t really feel accomplished when I win a hard fight in FF7 Remake. Just glad it’s done so I can go to the next thing. Strategy and skill are involved but mostly I can count on healing spells and slowing down time with menus anyway so it’s hard to care much.
I’m playing this game next to my boyfriend and often find myself embarrassed when evil characters DO AN EVIL LAUGH. Things like the motorcycle boss fight could’ve been awesome but instead it was as cheesy as rocket raccoon yelling OHHHHHHH yeAhHhhhh when picking up a machine gun.
This is the only good line in the game.
CHOCOBO MOOGLE SUMMON IS V GOOD. every game should have it and every high powered attack in this game should be cute.
I am over cloud’s weird headache flashback/forwards or whatever is going on.

I mostly use BIG SWORD but Aerith is finally clicking for me. I enjoy her swirly little animations.
I can't stand the mid-combat chatter. It's awful but the combat itself has a really satisfying loop. I like how approachable this game's difficulty is. Maintaining XP after dying is an act of kindness I'll never forget. PS. I have no idea how I feel about this game anymore.
I think I like it more than I did a few hours ago but I definitely don't love it. It's absolutely a "good game" but I'm by no means enamored with it bc the loop is solid at (but repetitive) and the writing is boring as hell.
I feel oddly compelled to check all the boxes in this game & I think that's a compliment to how satisfying the combat is. I love that you get rewarded with different accessories, material, weapons etc bc more stuff to experiment with is awesome! A lot of the quests are dull tho.
The arm thing is different but it is not good. #ff7Remake
Playing in the park is cute! But no swings?? I guess they knew no one could do swings like What Remains of Edith Finch.
Okay but hear me out Final Fantasy 7 VR and it's just these VR missions aka the best battles in the game.
These have now gotten out of order but #FF7Remake consistently does shit like this and I'm just like why dawg. This is weak as hell.
This is #FF7Remake in a nutshell.
Excellent writing moment in #FF7Remake. A teacher following her passion (dancing) in secret - at night - who doesn't want her students finding out. REAL AF.

My bf just asked for 2 reasons I’m not enjoying #FinalFantasy7Remake and I was like it’s not that I’m not enjoying it. Then I realized I am, in fact, not enjoying it. I respect elements of this game jeez it has some problems. Ps. My answer was bad writing and lots of filler.
