Rewatched Bong Joon Ho's THE HOST tonight. Still brilliant, but I had forgotten that part of the plot is a viral infection, and the United States has to step in and solve it because the provincial South Koreans can't seem to handle it.

Also the family in it, though mostly virtuous, has a very similar vibe to the poor family in PARASITE. Very resourceful folk.

America comes in for criticism -- it's American arrogance thatcreated the monster -- but there's just this assumption that America is more powerful, richer, more able, and will step in when needed that now seems... quaint.
