Texas has 248 deaths & that's death/million (below are :

Texas 9
California 15
USA 57
New Jersey 218
Michigan 129
Massachusetts 88
&
New York 400 (worst in world & worse than Spain).

Wide range in response/fatality.

Let's talk about economic & humanitarian crisis of the virus https://twitter.com/CNN/status/1248714895853588487
This virus attacks people (lives & livelihood). People die if politicians & bureaucrats don't contain the outbreak or have already public health that have general public that's healthy to deal w/ this.

Most deaths are in New York & New Jersey & increasingly the rust belt.
Deaths occur when you have so many of the population infected & public health system overwhelmed so the people that get sick don't get the help they need or they are already too sick or too many sick to give adequate care.

We're seeing that in NY & increasingly New Jersey. And..
On top of higher # of people infected = higher deaths just a math issue) = higher chance of death if a certain area has too many very ill as limited public health to help, we got another issue in America that needs to be WIDELY DISCUSSED & changed: High incidence of obesity. High
Obesity in America, look at the statistics below. Hit ratio on average is >40% prevalence & highest for African American women at 56.9% (higher than black men 41.1%).

Men
Asian 17.5%
White 44.7%
Black 41.1%
Hispanic 45.7%

Women
Asian 17.2%
White 39.8%
Hispanic 43.7%
Black 56.9%
This is the biggest public health failure in America. We can discuss the cause (many a study on this & I am not a sociologist so I won't) but this is major problem & if we care about our fellow Americans: We must fix this.

Hit ratio too high for obesity, which is a disease.
So now we have reports that say Covid-19 is a disease that kills more of a certain race (African American) & a certain gender (male) but studies across the world shows that it kills more people with preexisting conditions & also obese people.

Reflects our public health failure.
We must get back to basics & focus on the public health of Americans. How did we get so obese? How do we as a society come to accept this as OK?

It's not OK. And the virus exposes this over & over again that u need your citizens to be fit & in good health. Public health matters.
