If you can leave NYC during a pandemic for the country, for another state, for the safety of yourself and your family, that is not only a privilege but a potential risk to every person you come into contact with along every stop on the highway. I'm not leaving my city, my home.
I'm not putting other people at risk. I'm staying put until this plateaus, until my city is safe, until other cities are safe. I am not more important that another person. My family is not more important than any other family.
To front like you're more enlightened for finding a haven in the woods, and that folks who remain in the city are just "crazy" for staying put is so classist, so lacking in public safety consciousness, so nuclear family focused and precisely what is wrong with everything!
You're not more enlightened, you fool. You're just rich.
It is possible to be an absolutely ASYMPTOMATIC CARRIER OF THIS VIRUS, and every person you've had contact with in March is a potential person you could've infected. No amount of disinfectant spray or cloth masks (which don't work) is a guarantee of protection. Staying home is.
Absolutely it is hard on one’s mental health to be stuck in a small NYC apt day in and a day out. Optimizing one’s own quarantine without a regard to the immunities and health of others is peak narcissistic individualism
Lol are you even a New Yorker if your first response is to run I don’t know tbh
