You know what? I worked as a web services librarian for five years, and my colleagues always said they couldn’t overhaul their LibGuides or redo their tutorial videos, too busy. Now there’s time. Clean your virtual houses, libraries! Pay staff to do so! You NEED IT. https://twitter.com/noethematt/status/1248624472774467584
In-person patrons are so often prioritized over our far more numerous virtual users. In-person desk time and instruction sessions are often valued over making a cohesive web presence. (I worked hard to shift MFPOw’s culture while there, with some success, but still…)
What I’m saying is, there is a LOT of work to be done on most libraries’ web presences. Pay people to do it. (And, to the directors: please realize how much work your web librarian is probably doing, supporting that work.)
Note about this thread: I really miss libraries sometimes. I love teaching technology, but I have *so many strong feelings* about library UX and no way to do anything about them, besides opining on Twitter.
