It’s working, folks (continued): today’s national growth rate in cases, at 6.7 per cent, was the slowest for any day since February, when the outbreak first began to accelerate here.
In seven of the ten provinces, the epidemic’s spread has virtually stopped: growth rates are 2-3 per cent or less, with more recoveries than new cases. Only Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia remain in the 7-9 per cent range.
Of course, the actual numbers of those infected are probably multiples of the reported numbers. But we’re talking about the growth rate here, not the level. And we’re testing many times as many people as we were even two weeks ago…
So if anything the reported rate of growth likely overstates the actual rate.
