The pandemic hasn't impacted Jim Acosta's appetite, I'm glad to see.

But Acosta isn't really the problem. WE are.

Too many of us are under the spell of the Fallacy of the Excluded Middle.

All or nothing. One extreme or another.
Leftists are write-offs, so they don't matter.

Now I'm seeing tons of conservatives who are also write-offs.

The problem of being under the spell of the Fallacy of the Excluded Middle is that these people NEVER ADMIT TO BEING WRONG.
My daily routine now is to visit two news sites, listen to @realDonaldTrump, and then put on movies reviews for the rest of the day as I scan old photos.

I'm not listening to ANY of the people I used to listen to, except @BillWhittle.
The reason people demand one extreme or the other is that they can't engage in critical thinking.

Let's debunk the stupidest trope out there right now:

The CDC is deliberately inflating the number of deaths from COVID-19.

"THEY ADMITTED TO IT!"
Folks, you're not using your noodle.

Do you know WHY the CDC told hospitals to count infected people with preexisting conditions as COVID-19 deaths?

BECAUSE AUTOPSIES WILL TAKE UP CRITICAL RESOURCES.
If you do an autopsy on a person infected with COVID-19, every single person involved has to wear personal protective equipment that must then be DESTROYED.

After each autopsy, THE ENTIRE ROOM MUST BE DISINFECTED, and then THOSE people must destroy their PPE.
We don't have the time or the resources to satisfy you.

Be honest: You decided this was a hoax at the beginning, and nothing will change your mind.

Right?

Right.

I'll tell you why you're doing this.

Fear.
By denying reality, you assuage that fear that you refuse to admit you're feeling.

Psychology 101.

Here's a statistic you should ponder:

HALF of all homes in Los Angeles have either an elderly person, a person with preexisting conditions, or both.
We have 1.4 million households, so if we went for herd immunity, we could lose 700,000 people in Los Angeles alone.

It's simply not possible to treat that many people. The attempt would be made, though.

And that means no medical treatment for the rest of us.
You don't want to take this seriously because it scares the absolute hell out of you.

Here's another stupid trope:

Hospitals are laying off staff because they're getting no patients.

No.
Taking a MIDPOINT for all the COVID-19 models, this study estimated 21 million hospitalizations for the disease.

https://www.healthaffairs.org/do/10.1377/hblog20200317.457910/full/
Hospitals were laying off and furloughing non-specialized staff IN PREPARATION for the surge in infection.

You can't just hook people up to ventilators. It requires training to monitor them.

You need specially trained ICU staff.
Retirees, regular armed forces, National Guard, and everyone else we could think of were put on the job.

ANESTHESIOLOGISTS were put on the job.

DENTAL HYGIENISTS were put on the job.
Because of social distancing and the shutting down of gathering spots, we've avoided the WORST-CASE scenario, but we don't know yet where this is going to go.

How many of you are familiar with the Battle of Britain?
The Germans began bombing Britain in preparation for Operation Sea Lion, the invasion of the British Isles.

The British had enough fighter aircraft, BUT NOT ENOUGH PILOTS.

They sent up Poles, Czechs, and Belgians who didn't even speak English.
Instructors and bomber pilots were pressed into service.

AND THE BRITISH WERE GOING TO LOSE.

They almost ran out of pilots.

But the Germans quit right before the British lost.

If the Germans had kept going, the UK would've fallen.
If the UK fell, WE couldn't have invaded Europe to defeat the Nazis.

If the UK fell, the Nazis wouldn't have had to fight a two-front war, and they could've taken Stalingrad.

If the Nazis had taken Europe, the Japanese could've teamed up with them.
Ever heard of the Horton brothers?

German designers working on a jet-powered flying-wing strategic bomber to hit the US.

With atomic bombs.
We went to war only because the Japanese attacked us on December 7, 1941.

Then Hitler declared war on us on December 11, 1941.

If the Japanese had held off until the Germans had atomic bombs and jet strategic bombers, we'd be the only democracy left on earth.
Guess when the Germans first planned to invade the US?

1901.

Plan B.

They would hit the East Coast and level Wall Street with naval fire, artillery, and ground troops.
We were doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to Germany in 1901, but they were going to take us out anyway as a precaution.

If the Germans had defeated the Brits and the Japanese had waited, we would've been looking at a world war.

The world against US.
Just because things DON'T happen doesn't mean that they COULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED.

We dodged a bullet the size of a freight train, kids.

And we owe it all to TRUMP.

He neither minimized nor overreacted.

That's just the truth.
If you're HOPING that the economy will recover quickly, you're behind the curve.

Trump will MAKE IT HAPPEN.

It's the world against Trump.

The world never had a chance.
