bruh, pittsburgh sanitation workers went on strike for a fucking week! trash is still piled up in lawrenceville. almost every restaurant in the city is closed. port authority made all public transit free because so few people are riding and they're still going to limit riders.
yes, pa is largely rural but it's also mostly FARMS. yall do understand that if pa is not functional in like 4 weeks, a huge portion of dairy & meat production will come to a screeching halt right?
like every morning i listen to podcasts from npr, slate, and the economist and literally no one is talking about pennsylvania. no one. even though the governor said that in person classes for elementary & secondary ed will not resume before august.
all state testing in pa for high schools is cancelled. do you understand what that means for kids graduating this year or next year? they may not be allowed to graduate without an executive order waiving the state test requirement.
of all 50 states, pa ranks 8th in wine production and 19th in agricultural production. that's over $3 billion in revenue annually. the 6th largest bank in the country is headquartered in pittsburgh. what happens if international travel doesn't resume shortly?
us steel, ppg industries, heinz, & hershey are all headquartered in pa. ge enterprises is the largest manufacturer of train cars in the country and it's based in erie. all of these companies are operating on skeleton crews right now.
pennsylvania's gdp is 6th in the country. SIXTH. do you understand what happens if pennsylvania's economy doesn't rebound?
