Kpop - The Term, Origins, How it's changed, How it limits artists, How Korea and Western worlds use the term, Why certain artists shouldn't be labelled by it and how it has become an Industry

Let's begin

Kpop is the short form of 'Korean Pop' which is a music genre based around western sounds especially Hip-Hop and R&B, it's π•†π•£π•šπ•˜π•šπ•Ÿπ•€ start with Seo Taiji and the Boys, a Boyband debuted in 1992 with the song "I know".
Kpop is wildly different from traditional South Korean Music, but even so, became very popular. The first proper "Idol Group" and the beginning of what Kpop is today, started with the Founder of SM, Lee Soo-man created the band H. O. T
It quickly began to derail from a GENRE to an INDUSTRY, as bands were formed with processes and ideals, where artists passion is limited and creativity is forced inside a box. ℍ𝕠𝕨 π••π•šπ•• π•šπ•₯ π•”π•™π•’π•Ÿπ•˜π•–?

Kpop, what was originally friends forming a band, had turned into
People auditioning & being formed into a group of selected people, they had less say in the making of the music and company conglomerates pushing out band after band, soon, a robotic sort of system was set into place, expectations and rules for idols. It wasn't just music anymore

Being stuck inside one label no matter the genres you do or branch out to, limits the chance of finding newer fans, it's hard for Korean pop idols to find fans outside of the already existing kpop fanbase, the
Fanbase is SEPARATED from the GP of Korea, normally Idol fans are even looked down upon. Artists in the Kpop industry, especially in certain companies, also are limited to creative freedom. They control their artists (sometimes, even their every move and daily life) *cough* YG

Korean:

Normally, referenced as "Child's music" or "Idols music", Kpop, and it's fans, are looked down on to a point by the GP. Kpop fans are separated and tend to have nicknames like "ATMS" And such,
The GP, tends to prefer soloists and their endeavors a bit more, certain K Groups have popularity with the GP, BTS Are a great example, part of why the Korean GP separates them from Kpop. They're seen as different than the rest of the quote on quote "same scene"
Westerners:

They use this as an umbrella term to hold Korean and asian artists back. No matter what, they'll be labelled as Kpop, so they can restrict POC 'Korean artists music into a box and have them all showed into one section, this happens to POC artists alot, an
Example is Black artists being forced into labels like "Urban" and such to stop them from being with the rest of the non POC musicians. This forces them into a category and separates them from the other artists at award shows and in general music scene.
Why BTS has overcome it, and how can others possibly overcome it
