White Tigers (Panthera Tigris Tigris) are born when two Bengali tigers carry a recessive gene controlling coat color. They are NOT albino.
Both white & orange tigers are Bengali tigers. You can say the only difference is their coat, but that’s not entirely true. White tigers tend to grow faster and are much heavier. New borns are also bigger at birth.
Unlike the orange Bengali, when white tigers mate, they can only produce white cubs seeing that they do not posses the orange gene.
The first white tiger spotted was in 1951. The last white tiger was shot in 1958 by a trophy hunter. White tigers no longer exist in the wild. 😔
he white tigers we see today are all in captivity and are a product of inbreeding. Most captive white tigers lineage can be traced back to one single tiger named Mohan, the very first white Bengali tiger spotted in 1951 as I stated above.
Because of inbreeding, white tigers have many genetic problems such as:

Cleft palates
Scoliosis of the spine
Mental impairment
Crossed eyes
There are approximately 200 white tigers left in the world.
The bite force of a tiger is twice as strong as a lion and can take down any large prey alone.
Tigers are the largest cats in the world. But between the orange and white Bengali....the white tiger is bigger and heavier, both at birth and adult life.
A female tiger can give birth to a litter of 3-4 cubs and occasionally 7, although they seldom all survive. The mother will not leave her cubs unattended for the first 2 months of their lives.
A not so “Fun” Fact: Golden Tigers just like White Tigers, have a color variation caused by recessive genes due to captive breeding and inbreeding. This does not occur in nature.
Black Tigers have a condition called “pseudo melanism.” Pure melanism refers to a large amount of pigmentation of the hair, fur, feathers and so on. However, this is not the case in black tigers, which is why the term “pseudo” is used.
Black tigers exist and can be seen in the wild and zoos.
