one thing I love about Tai (DUB NAMES!) is that he& #39;s not a typical shounen protagonist. Instead of having him declare something about being friends he& #39;s just like, immediately impressed with izzy; when he here& #39;s there& #39;s traffic problems, immediately checks on his mom and sister
izzy& #39;s like "hi im izzy, sorry i& #39;m nerding out, I am going to try to solve this problem now if tha& #39;ts okay?" and tai& #39;s like "WOW, WE JUST MET BUT IM NO GOOD AT THAT STUFF, YOU SEEM COOL" and then immediately is like "gotta check on the people i love real quick"
Tai is, fundamentally, a good person. A lot of shounen protagonists are kind of assholes who succeed on The Power of Friendship, but Tai is like... characterized as a real human being and it& #39;s awesome.
Izzy& #39;s great because he& #39;s just, like, he doesn& #39;t really connect with people well but he wants to and he always feels distant from everyone but he still does his best.
Digimon rules because it gets ~group dynamics~ in ways that don& #39;t feel like repeating shounen tropes.
