Canadian beekeepers buy thousands of queen bees and packages of bees every year to replace hives that died over the winter, but this year those bees aren't getting into the country.

Because of shipping restrictions from the COVID-19 pandemic, Scandia Honey was unable to important any bees this season, which will have an affect on Canada's honey supply and agriculture.

Some Americans, fearing food shortages from COVID-19, have cleaned out supermarket shelves. Yet there's too much food in some places. Farmers are dumping milk and vegetables that they can't sell.

The crowds seeking basic necessities are getting larger and the San Antonio Food Bank is struggling to keep up with the demand caused by the economic fallout of the coronavirus pandemic.

In the fertile Satara district in western India, farmers are putting their cattle on an unorthodox diet: Some feed iceberg lettuce to buffalo. Others feed strawberries to cows.

"If we’re essential, we need help, because we’re the people feeding the country,” says Eugenia Gonzales.

Already at high risk of disease and early death, workers are especially prone to respiratory illnesses, setting them up for the worst ravages of the coronavirus.

A few foreign farm laborers arrived in Vermont late last week with the help of a mysterious chartered airplane.

“I feel like they’re bribing us with money to come to work sick,” said one worker.
