We all know the story of the most lopsided defeat in college football history. The attacker is known as John Heisman and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. While the victim is the Cumberland Bulldogs, now Phoenix.

Let us go over some facts that shed a positive light on Cumberland, who presently has a very competitive football team in the NAIA.

You maybe surprised of what you see in this thread, your own team may appear.

Cumberland in the 1900s was in the SIAA the predecessor of the SEC.
Did you know Cumberland is undefeated against these teams?

Alabama
Georgia
LSU
Louisville

Cumberland defeated all four teams by a combined score of 144-10.
The Bulldogs now "Phoenix" historically leads the series against these FBS teams.

In 1911 Cumberland met Clemson in Montgomery for the SIAA Conference Championship that both teams organized in the postseason as the championship game.

John Heisman was the coach of that Clemson team, you know the guy responsible for 220-0? Cumberland tied Clemson that day 11-1.
Cumberland also has wins against these programs on their resume. A win is still a win, no matter how old. Cumberland was a program to definitely recognize in the first half of the 1900's.
