I just cant believe that Lucasfilm thought it would be a good idea to make a large part of the trilogy about a doomed, tragic romance of Rey & Ben and make it so that Ben apparently had to die and thought, "Wow, this is what fans want to see as an epic, satisfying conclusion!"
And "Let's kill off all the Skywalkers one by one! So satisfying, hopeful, and happy!"
And "Let's make it so Leia never gets to reunite with her son! Only in death, which we won't even show!!" (Both of which could have been done, as fan edits have proven)
And of course, "Let's destroy narrative cohesion and logic by making Rey a Palptine with a backstory that makes no sense in the very last movie! Let's allow JJ to do that, even though we allowed Rian to make her a Nobody already!" 🤡
And while I'm at it: "We'll keep telling people Star Wars is about family, even though we are exterminating an entire family. But don't worry, we'll have Ben's replacement call herself a Skywalker, even though she's all alone & therefore the bloodline still ends when she dies."🙃
*I guess I can't really say bloodline there, but you get my point. The adopted/family line still ends with Rey because she's all alone without her soulmate....because love kills, apparently.
