As men, we’re often told to suppress our emotions, whether it’s love, fear, joy, despair or anxiety. Why? Because expressing your emotions equates to weakness.
Being emotionally aware is not a weakness, it’s a strength. To be emotionally aware is to be empathetic, considerate, compassionate and understanding.
Once you learn to overcome the fear of expressing yourself, you’ll realise that these taboos are meaningless. Most taboos do more harm than good.
And no, this doesn’t make you “soft,” or whatever that means. Don’t listen to macho bros who project their insecurities and inadequacies onto others.
Soft is used as a derogatory term in this context. Some men think it’s a feminine trait. And having feminine traits is bad. This idea of manhood is so fragile and weak.
