Chinese GDP drop by 40% in up to April; a 30-50% drop in US GDP by summer. But all this, with all its horrendous socioeconomic outcomes, will still likely only produce a 4% decline in GHG emissions, according to a rough analysis by Carbon Brief.
This should be the final nail in the coffin of the degrowth people. What we need is an overhaul of our energy system, not less growth.

We’ve actually now got what the degrowthers want, it’s doing very little with respect to the climate, and everyone sees how disastrous it is.
