@jonnyrmcfarlane @realcolinquinn @JimSpenceSport. Let’s me put the alternative case for “shambles”. The bottom line is the governance of Scottish football is set up to fail. Let’s me explain. I’ll start with the Board. Company law dictates that board members must act for the co. https://twitter.com/pwmcomms/status/1248718111706173445
But they don’t. They act for their own clubs self interest. The way it should work is that the ceo and Chair should lead and have vision. Here it depends what kind of ceo you have. A consensus builder or a risk taker. If you are a risk taker you end getting sacked for ambition.
If you are a consensus builder you herd sheep and get nothing of value achieved as compromise dilutes everything. Then you have the shareholders, the clubs. They vote entirely on self interest and dislike of other clubs. (Never try and get a vote thru after jan. Relegation!!!!)
So you get the football community wanting decisiveness of a body, spl or sfa, when that body doesn’t actually exist. It’s a hollow brand. And people get frustrated by lack of leadership. And call “shambles”. Yes it is a shambles but it’s inevitable. So what has happened here?
I believe Neil/murdoch wanted to call the league. As you saw from the votes today, they knew most clubs were dying from lack of cash. They knew the virus would last for months. They didn’t want to start the new tv deal with a crippled 20/21 schedule. This was their aim.
Rangers are in an awful pickle. They need cash more than most. But can never be seen by their fans to concede without a fight. Hearts have a more legitimate claim. I feel very sorry for the spl 6th floor. They can’t win here. But try and understand the shit they are dealing with.
