Rapid lockdown of internal/international borders in Colombia curtailed a major post PhD birding trip. Was v.fortunate to find a small farm in the central cordillera (~1650m) to hole up in for a while with (nrly 3wks in..) with plenty of space for lockdown birding..
Loving my new patch though: approaching 120 sp. on a 4ha plot of secondary forest/'pasto' /overgrown coffee plantation. The ton brought up simultaneously with this plucky Red-faced Spinetail and a Black Hawk-Eagle lumping around overhead
Plenty of migrants piling through. New in the last few days are Willow Fly joining the Acadians, volleys of Eastern Kingbirds overhead and occasional spectacular raptor streams (Swainsons Hawks now swapped with BW Hawks as the more abundant)..
Some serious zugunruhe in the Swainsons Thrushes: up to last week singing and feeding like nutters. Now numbers plummeting (along with Blackburnian Warbs). Handfuls of Bay-breasted W and REV clinging on as well as CAWA/TEWA/YGVI etc
Probably the most satisfying is piling complete lists into @Team_eBird from a *relatively* little covered area (using hotspots as a proxy) Todays rainy wander- https://ebird.org/checklist/S66941225).
..and mapping territories of species across the whole plot, Parker's Antbird being one of my favourites thus far. Will continue this thread as things develop in my impromptu lockdown Andean bird obs
