I wanted to say something, probably not hugely significant.

Every time I see some pro trying to think of a way to help a comics shop, it is always followed by a cacophony of sneering, 'That's not gonna save comics' tweets.

NO one thing is gonna do it. 1/
NONE of the suggestions I've seen are going to fix everything. It's not a one idea problem.

When I said, hey, I wonder if a Marvel/DC thing might be a good traffic builder when stores re-open, a BUNCH of news sites who should know better took that as a 'save comics' pitch. 2/
It wasn't, it was an idea, thinking out loud, and having some fun with readers and pro friends about what COULD happen.

And I still heard from a ton of retailers who said they could bring a LOT of people in with an event like that.

NOT a fix-all. 3/
The point is, we SHOULD be throwing ideas out there. I am attending a bunch of live auctions, others are buying gift cards from comics shops, others are buying freelance art commissions, others are doing things I'm not even aware of.

It's not going to be one thing. 4/
But a lot of LITTLE things can help in the meantime.

And throwing out ideas for things that might help during the quarantine and after seems like a decent use of time. Some ideas won't work, but some HAVE worked, a bit at least, already.

5/
Also, while I'm at it, huge kudos to @jimlee and @robertliefeld for doing those sketches to benefit comic shops, that is some badass stuff.

6/
I have been thinking about it, I have no answers, obviously.

But I do have a hope. I am hoping that instead of tentative baby steps when the stores come back, that we instead blow the damn doors off, make it a party, make it the most welcoming celebration we can. 7/
I would love to walk back into my favorite comic shop and see everyone happy and buying comics and all the other stuff. We all love comics, we all have a favorite comics store...I would love to see us spring back with a vengeance and a smile.

8/
We all love comics, I understand being prepared for disaster. But I hope we also can prepare for success.

Most of these retailers have been busting their asses for years. It would be great for them to be able to reopen with a shipment of top-notch comics and merch. 9/
And the support of everyone who ever loved comics, and loved the shops that sell them.

Remember, we all love comics, no matter what else is going on.

Hope the comeback is a month-long celebration and everyone is invited.
