Thread:
Most of my Tiktok recommendations are now "A bought a plant and it died. I KILLED A CACTUS"

Yeah. Listen to me honey. DON'T. WATER. YOUR. CACTUS. OFTEN.
Last time I watered mine was 2 months ago???? AND IT'S THRIVING
there is no such thing as a green thumb.

Plants are easier to look after as soon as you have a routine.
Catus and Succulents: Lots of sun, little water, long-term fertilizer works best for me (the one for Catus and succulents please)
Philodendron, Monstera and Calathea: water as soon as the top of the soil is dry, keep the moisture in your room up and temperature not less than 18°C.
I fertilize from may to September every 2-3 weeks when I have to water them anyway. Medium light.
Just check online: Temperature minimum and maximum, if they like high humidity and how much water they need and you'll be fine.
Plant care is easy.
Also don't over fertilize and never fertilize in winter.
A lesson I needed to learn the hard way: DON'T BUY PLANTS FROM THE PLANT STORE/GARDENING CENTER WHAT EVER BECAUSE THEY LOOK BAD AND YOU'RE SORRY FOR THEM.
They might carry diseases and infect your healthy plants. Also you can't save them if they're dying of root rot or anything.
Just get a healthy plant and keep it healthy.

Also check for bugs, mold and anything regularly. It's quiet easy to get rid of most bugs and mold is mostly no problem at all. Your plant just needs a bit of ventilation and care. Maybe you need to think about cutting some leaves.
Next point: Leaves turning yellow and falling off is normal as long as it's not too many.
If you get the feeling that it's too much check if the roots of the plant are rotting or need more space
So... I understand. You wanna have fun with your plants and do them good so you water them often.
No. It's better to have the soil a bit dry than to have it dripping from water. Also make sure to have drainage. Nothing is worse for a plant than to be sitting in water.
It will rot and die.
How to have fun & take care: clean their leaves and check the pots if there is water in it.
I like to keep my plants in a nursery pot like this and a nice fancy pot around it. it's easier to control water in that case.

(example is a Peperomia hybrid piccolo)
Re-potting:

I would recommend not repotting your plant the first year after you got them and just let it chill.
Also only repot if your plant needs it in spring/summer when roots are sticking out of the pot.
Repotting is stressful to a plant so you should do it-
as little as possible. Your plant should be fine in its nursery pot for while! Don't worry.

And my last tip is: If you have pets like cats, dogs, bunnies, rats... who can run around freely make sure that your plants are pet save. Some (like most philodendron) are toxic.
Hope this thread helped some people even tho it's chaotic. If you find something I forgot or do wrong feel free to tell me ✨
