Our daily update is published. We’ve now tracked more than 2.5 million tests, up less than 150k from yesterday.

Note that we can only track tests that a state reports. And not all states report all tests.

For details, see: http://covidtracking.com
We’re very close to half a million confirmed cases. Which means: almost 1 out of every 5 tests has come back positive.

When states reported incompletely, this was an unreliable statistic. But the aggregate number is reasonably accurate now.
Testing capacity appears to have plateaued again, and yet we're not seeing declining positive rates. We're still nowhere close to having a true sense of the scale of the outbreak.
New York continues to dominate the numbers, as you can see in these tiny charts of COVID-19 deaths in hard-hit states.
Here's the comparison between New York and the rest of the states and territories.

43% of the known lives lost due to COVID-19 have come in New York.
One revealing cut of the data is the ratio of deaths to confirmed cases. This generates a list that's a mix of known hot spots and those that are still flying under the radar.
