I was inspired by @theo_llewellyn's thread of #TildaSwintonMeetsLichens for the 2020 #MetGala. So I decided to try it out. And who better represents the spirit of the times than Alexander McQueen. I present you the #McQueenMeetsWildFungi thread... Enjoy!
1. McQueen (by Sarah Burton) meets Dryad’s Saddle (Polyporus squamosus)
2. McQueen (Plato's Atlantis collection) meets Indigo Milk Cap (Lactarius indigo)
3. McQueen (Joan 1998 collection) meets red cage fungus (Clathrus ruber)
4. McQueen (Voss 2001 collection) meets cauliflower mushroom (Sparassis crispa)
5. McQueen (Sarah Burton McQueen tribute 2011) meets the colorful Trametes versicolor
6. McQueen (A/W 2009 collection) meets The black jelly fungus Exidia plana
7. Last one: McQueen (Voss collection) meets the lion's mane fungus (Hericium erinaceus)
I will say that fashion is undeniably connected to time. Lee McQueen was always at the forefront of innovation and pushing boundaries. His pieces are both revolutionary & timeless. His enduring legacy and timeless works of art continue to inspire the next generation of designers
