my boss just called and said “how are you” and I reflexively said “fine” and she was like “NOPE, START OVER, I am not fine and you are not fine and no one is fine, let’s have a real conversation, how are you” and I was like “super terrible” and she was like “MUCH BETTER”

this should be how all bosses handle work calls from now on

anyone who expects you to be fine and normal and “working at 150%”, or who makes you feel obligated to dress up on zoom, or responds to “we are in a pandemic” with “that’s no excuse for not being productive!”, is wrong
