Workers filing for unemployment in New York State should use an ad-blocker. NYS DoL's website sends data to Google that, in theory, could effect the ads you see...which could actually be a big deal in terms of housing or employment discrimination.
I asked Google about this and they assured me that in the case of http://labor.ny.gov , they have taken measures to ensure that analytics data does not make it into their advertising services.
But also, the User IDs present in the web requests to Google Ads/Analytics are associated with around 500 New York State pages, including dozens specifically focused on the State’s Coronavirus efforts.
Maybe all of this is just fine...it just feel like receiving social services should not be contingent around handing your data to a third parties
