Everyone on social media praised Gavin Newsom & California to the high heavens for their coronavirus response and ripped Ron DeSantis and Florida to the high heavens for theirs. Yet infections & deaths are very similar in the two states. (Florida is actually lower.) Why is that?
You can certainly argue that Florida is poised to explode if you want to take the negative side, but the data doesn't reflect that's presently happening. So what explains the similarity between two states? Warm weather? Cali & Florida have similar lack of density? Thoughts?
You can also toss Texas into this mix. Texas has only had 226 coronavirus deaths, which is much lower per capita than both California and Florida. What explains the similarities between three huge states: Texas, California, & Florida, despite differences in timing and responses?
