This is what happens when you announce a 48 hour lockdown three hours before it starts. As if COVID-19 wasn’t a problem enough already, tonight it gets a chance to spread like wildfire in all of the biggest cities of Turkey.
Yes, it was a good idea to shutdown major cities, particularly given good weather. But the execution ignored the absolute certainty of herd mentality taking over and creating horrendous unintended consequences.

And to top it all off, everyone goes back to work on Monday.
To a broader point of crisis communication, it needs to be earlier than this or it ignites panic. And it should have been very clear that certain shops would be open etc. The policy now causes more physical contact than if everyone had left their homes all weekend.
But seriously, did coronavirus write and execute this policy? Because I don’t think you could have spread the disease more if you actively tried to do it...
