Thread on Tua Tagovailoa:
Tua Tagovailoa is the best deep ball thrower in this 2020 draft class, not because of his arm strength, but because of his placement.

Tua drops this ball over two defenders in stride for his receiver.
Here is another angle of that same throw.
Notice where the receiver is when Tua throws this ball. He throws his receiver open with some nice anticipation.
Tua's deep ball is unmatched. Consistently gets great placement.
Tua does a great job of manipulating defenders with his eyes.
Tua is able to move the defender with his eyes on this play and throws his receiver open into the space vacated by the defender.
Tua has shown the ability to make full field reads and progress through his reads quickly.

On this play, he scans through his first read to the right and makes his way back to the middle.
Tua has twitchy movement skills to maneuver in the pocket and find new launch points.
Tua's film is filled with deep ball dimes. Places this ball perfectly over the corner and away from the safety.
I've noticed that Tua gets really good rotation on the ball as he flicks it with his wrist through his release.

He may not have the greatest arm, but this rotation allows the ball to slice through the air and maintain velocity as it travels.
Tua has nice poise under pressure. Never looks bothered by oncoming pass rushers.
Sooo smooth moving in the pocket.
Tua is a really great improviser when the play breaks down.
Another example of using his eyes to manipulate defenders.
He holds #6 in the middle of the field before throwing this ball to the left.
Somehow fits this ball between the defenders and still in bounds.
Leads his RB away from the safety help over the top, which allows for more YAC.
Tua is a gamer.

After throwing a pick-6 in the previous drive, he comes right back and throws a bomb down the field.
Down by 12 with less than 2 minutes left in the game. Tua won't go down without fighting til the last minute.
Throws his receiver open past #8.
One negative about Tua is that he has a tendency to hold onto the ball for too long. This directly correlates to his injury history. Tua is just looking to make a play for his team, but he has to understand that at a certain point you have to throw the ball away.
One last example of Tua manipulating the coverage with his eyes and body positioning.
Tua angles his body to the right and even takes a couple of hitches towards the right before firing this body to the left.

Euphoria.
If it wasn't for his injuries, I would heavily consider Tua as QB1, but for now the injuries are a real concern. If he can stay healthy, there is no reason Tua isn't a franchise QB.
