today is what would've been the first day of #sakuracon2020. but instead of being mopey about not being able to go/it not being held, i'm gonna do a mini retrospective of @sakuracon gone by. so join me as this thread takes you to the far off year of 2009!

2009 was a pretty good year. it was the year that gave us the first entries in bayonetta, dragon age and batman: arkham series. along with other games such as ghostbusters, resident evil 5, wii sports resort, tekken 6, the second and final episode of gta4.

in the anime realm, 2009 was the year that saw the more-closer-to-the-original-manga full metal alchemist: brotherhood, the continuation season of slayers in evolution-r, the start of the originaly run of the anime adaptation of fairy tail and the return of dbz on tv with kai.

but more to the point of this thread, a con that at the time was in its 12 year of existence was just about to start. why yes, i'm talking about anime boston. no i'm not, i'm talking about sakura-con of course!
