So I try not to get into religious arguments because tautologies & boring and people can believe whatever they want to believe as long as it doesn't hurt someone else, but sometimes an argument comes along that is SO stupid & misguided that it needs to be addressed. Strap in.
These arguments are the ones that are patently irreconcilable with the faith the person professes to follow. And I'm not talking about lofty arguments like "Jesus was peaceful so he wouldn't want war." I'm talking about things where the source of the religion is UNAMBIGUOUSLY ...
AND EXPRESSLY against whatever you're saying.

And I'm seeing one of those arguments now. It takes various forms, but they all boil down to "only sinners get COVID-19."

Here's the thing about Christianity in all its variations. Its core conceit is that ALL PEOPLE ARE SINNERS.
Remember that whole thing about "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone?"

So if you're saying that you're safe because only sinners get COVID-19, you're saying that you are not a sinner. Which means that you reject one of the key teachings of your Lord & Savior.
Which, last time I checked, WAS A SIN.
Full disclosure, I am not religious. But I have logged enough hours in Sunday School to be able to argue solo.
