Something I really don't think enough of yall understand is that every single trans creator and artist, almost without exception, has been harassed - often extensively - by other trans people who were mad they didn't live up to their standards

I'm serious. If you are not an artist or creator yourself or if you don't know many of them, you don't understand how universal of an experience this is. And often, you wouldn't believe how insipid the supposed justifications for the harassment are

This - artist harassment - is really a pretty big problem so it would be great if we could actually deal with this for once

The frustrating thing is, even when the harassment is unquestionably gross and undeserved, it's really hard to get people to go beyond 'it was a mistake' or 'it was a few assholes' and address the real causes

By which I mean, the norms that are constantly active in our community that normalize brutal treatment of trans creators under the false guise of 'accountability' just for insignificant and meaningless offences like their art not being the right kind of moral lesson

Some of you are so fucking carceral it's terrifying. I don't know how to tell you that if you want to abolish prisons you should probably take care not to create community dynamics that are just as punishing towards the most marginalized specifically

Every day, I remember Isabelle Fall, who wrote a beautiful story about dysphoria and imperialism and the co-option of queer identities by militarism. But it wasn't what some people wanted to read, so they called her a man and a nazi and tried to punish her as much as they could

Shit like this keeps happening and I just want to know when we're gonna talk about it properly. And it's always trans people doing it to other trans people. So many trans creators I know are more scared of their own community than they are of the people who openly hate them

I think the hypocrisy is the worst part. Cis artists get held on pedastals for their 'complexity' by the same people who attack and punish trans artists for the exact same thing. And now some people even defend that double standard. It makes me sick

Merely talking about this stuff in the way I am is enough to get you on some people's shit list. They'll say they're only out for abusers, and if you have a problem with them then you're probably an abuser. No, I'm just sick of seeing innocent trans people hunted down and ruined

The langauge of 'if you're not guilty, you don't have anything to fear from our justice' is so prevalent in our community when it comes to this topic and for some reason no-one ever points out that it's a fascist idea

Kill the cop in your head that keeps telling you to go after other trans people

Anyway there's no other point to this thread than to vent about this. It keeps happening and I hate it and I hate that people keep making excuses for it and insisting it's not a real and persistent issue that has deep roots we need to address
