NOW at today's @WhiteHouse press briefing: I'm discussing the alarming trends we are observing regarding the impact of the #COVIDー19 pandemic on communities of color.
Diseases like diabetes, hypertension, obesity and asthma have historically disproportionately afflicted minority populations, particularly African Americans. For example, African Americans develop high blood pressure at younger ages than white Americans.
Let me be crystal clear - people of color are not biologically or genetically predisposed to get #COVIDー19, but they are socially predisposed to coronavirus exposure, and to have a higher incidence of the very diseases that put you at risk for severe complication of coronavirus.
This data - this history - does NOT however have to be our nation’s future.

We are taking steps now, in the midst of the #COVIDー19 pandemic to reach, protect, and strengthen all communities impacted by this disease, and especially our communities of color.
