The UK’s daily death toll (980) has now exceeded Italy’s highest (919) - the tragedy is that we had time to learn from their experience - Italy locked down 9 March, the UK 23 March.
This is in fact the highest figure of any European country - France’s record daily death toll of 1,417 includes care home deaths.
