— grew up together on the same side of town

— pushing the other person away out of fear of hurting them / not being good enough for them, but realising at a point too late that they’d missed their chance

— the person who had been pushed away mistook the fear, for their feelings being unrequited, so went into/back to a serious relationship so that they could feel loved

— “and it wasn’t just one heart that broke that night, it was two”

— would put all past feelings and heartbreak aside in order to be there for the other person at all costs

— the first person they turn to in a crisis

— “day by day, we’ll get through this... together” / “we take care of our own”

— “feelings that had long been buried... shook loose”

— finally acting on the pent up feelings
