What if the liquor store had not called police? If they had simply let the teenagers leave with the alcohol? The situation would not have turned into a dangerous chase. The SUV would be abandoned somewhere, covered by insurance.

Cops murdered Eishia on behalf of private property
We must contexualize the police murder of Eishia Hudson within the year-long campaign by police and all political parties (yes including the NDP) to fearmonger about liquor store thefts. It became a moral panic justifying any and all responses. Including killing a 16-yr-old girl.
Winnipeg has cheered on the deepening of a police state to protect bottles of liquor. Yet retail shrinkage is already fully factored into the cost of doing business for MLLC. These alleged thefts are meaningless in comparison to the amount of money these stores generate.
From a March 2019 MLLC press release: "Despite the rise in thefts over the past year, Hak says that theft of liquor products remains very low when compared to the retail industry average." https://www.mbll.ca/content/manitoba-liquor-lotteries-launches-enhanced-strategy-target-liquor-mart-theft
