I am perpetually angry about Henry David Thoreau and here is why:

In highschool I had to read some of Walden. It is a garbage book that is bad, and I’ll occasionally see it on my bookshelf and become irrationally upset at Henry David Thoreau and his bullshit book

He was only in the cabin for 2 YEARS. That’s it!!! And he went into town to hangout ALL THE TIME! There’s a chapter called “solitude” about how alone he is. Sir I am more in solitude in 3 weeks of quaratine than you ever were

His cabin “alone” on Walden Pond has a TRAIN go by it all the time?? What kind of nature and silence? Transcendentalist liar I hate him I hate him so much

The whole reason he went in the cabin is because his parents owned a pencil making factory and he said he “learned how to make the perfect pencil” and needed to move on. Henry, I get it, you didn’t want to make pencils anymore but you can just say that man. Pretentious

“He EXPERIMENTED with working as little as possible” WHAT! HE WAS JUST LAZY THATS WHY HE DIDNT WORK IN THE PENCIL FACTORY. I hate you Henry David Thoreau

In short, Henry David Thoreau’s book is bad and he is a fraud who I think should be forgotten by history. Blatant abuse of “intellectualism” to just sit at home all day and vibe. Insane respect for the man but your book was so boring
